Thank you to our community of supporters

The Veterans Council of Indian River County is so proud to report that our community has come together to offer generous support to our Veterans.  Generous supporters like the United Way COVID-19 Relief Fund, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and many individuals have made donations in support of helping Veterans and their families in need during this crisis.  We are so grateful for this generous support. We have been able to serve more than 36 Veterans and their families over the past few weeks and we will continue to serve! If you are a veteran or know of a veteran in Indian River County who needs help please contact the Veterans Council of Indian River County at (772) 410-5820.

Local Veterans Organizations Team Up for Operation Swine & Drive - May 2, 2020

On May 2nd, the Veterans Council of Indian River County, the #DoYouGiveARuck? organization, Vietnam Veterans of Indian River County, and Next Generation Veterans of Indian River County are teaming up with Wes' Backyard BBQ to provide and deliver 100 free meals to older veterans, immune compromised veterans, homeless veterans, and out of work veterans and their families due to the Corona Virus pandemic. Even though this is just one small act of kindness, we feel that it will brighten many veterans day to get a great meal they deserve. Coverage areas that will be delivered to will be Vero Beach, Wabasso, Sebastian, Gifford, and Fellsmere.

We are so thankful for the many volunteers and community members who are partnering to make Operation Swine & Drive a success.  Supporting local business like Wes' Backyard BBQ & Grill and supporting local veterans in need is a fine example of what giving back to the community means.

#GivingTuesdayNow

At this moment, as the country continues to deal with a global health and economic crisis, GivingTuesday, the groundbreaking global generosity movement, announced #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity, set to take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the enormous need caused by COVID-19.

The day is designed to focus on generosity, citizen engagement, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

We are encouraged to show generosity in a variety of ways, following public health guidelines, during #GivingTuesdayNow -- whether by helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes, every act of generosity counts.

You can join us on May 5th by promoting generosity in our community. Help a friend in need, patronize a small business, or make a donation to a non-profit in your community like the Veterans Council of Indian River County.
